Pre-Production & Precision Timing

Covering a multi-discipline event spread over vast terrain required rigorous pre-production. Before race day, we completed full location scouting on a Sunday at 5:00 AM to map out key angles. We created a minute-by-minute timetable to stay ahead of the athletes at every major milestone, from transition zone shifts to the final finish-line moments.

Stylized Opening & Emotional Pacing

The film opens with a stylized, hook-driven prologue utilizing heavy grain, black-and-white grading, and slow-motion builds to generate immediate tension. The narrative then shifts into a high-energy progression through swimming, cycling, and running, closing on intense, emotional reaction shots at the finish line.

Per Aspera (Challenges & Execution)

9.5 Hours of Heavy Rigging

Operating across a continuous 9.5-hour production window, we opted for a full cinema setup over a lightweight kit. While this was a physical challenge it also paid off as it guaranteed full exposure and framing control as well as the ability to frame for Social Media optimized 9:16 as well as 16:9 at the same time.

Trackside Mobility & Drone Direction

To capture intimate perspectives without disrupting the athletes, we navigated off-road sectors on foot, embedding deep into forest run courses and far away biking sections. Additionally, we directed on-site aerial coverage, briefing a dedicated drone operator with shot lists to seamlessly blend high quality drone shots shots into the main edit.
